HEADLINE NEWSCricket Committee working hard through 2007 seasonDue to unfortunate circumstances such as the bad weather we have all experienced over the last few weeks and the impact this has had on cricket coaching for the children, not only in Eydon, but surrounding villages, the Committee has reluctantly decided to postpone the Johnnie Turbett Kwik Cricket Festival to another date which will be decided at the next committee meeting. The coaching sessions will continue to run on Thursday evenings to which boys, girls and mums are very welcome Golf DayThe Golf Day was held on Monday 25th June under sunny skies. The day, which started with registration hosted by Gwen & Iain Bishop and John Grinley, proved to be a tremendous success with everyone enjoying their game. The Captains divided their teams into pairs, and with the day being played under match play rules, additional challenges were set out around the course including Beat the Pro which recorded six winners. The evening supper and prize giving, hosted by Alan Lamb, was held at Crockwell Farm; grateful thanks to Paul Broome and Justin and Bronnie LeFevre from the Royal Oak for their support in providing the supper. The evening concluded with coffee, puddings and a superb raffle. The Cricket Club would like to record thanks to everyone who supported the event; the amount raised has been finalised at £2350.00 MembershipsAt the AGM the Committee and members voted to offer social and playing memberships. Playing memberships are £5.00 (under 14s register free of charge). Social memberships, which are available for £5.00, (individual or family) are designed to encourage non-playing support and participation of the Cricket Club. |
